Over Molding

Overmolding is the process of inserting a plastic or rubber substrate into a mold and encapsulating the substrate with rubber or plastic. If the substrate material is similar to the encapsulating material, a strong molecular bond is formed between the two materials. Dissimilar materials can be overmolded using a mechanical interlocking bond or an adhesive.

Colson Plastics has over twenty years experience with overmolding both similar and dissimilar materials. Colson's engineers are available to help determine material selection, design, and mechanical interlock or adhesive systems to help solve your overmolding problems.
